Don’t Think Sharing Is Caring? Here’s What Your Co-Workers Have to Say About That

It was said to Hota Kotb (Today Show co-host and spreader of feel-good-vibes all the time) by Ken Duane—a stranger who’s Google searches oddly yield nothing of substance. Despite the fact that I’m referencing two people who I’ve never met, I implore you to ⬇️ keep reading.
A book I’m reading asked what my definitions of GOOD and EVIL are. I listed all the obvious points.
When my coworker struggled to understand something that someone could have easily taught her, but was refused help in order to hold onto their fake sense of power, I realized THAT is a great example of evil. Low-grade evil in comparison to most things, but still…it doesn’t come from a good place.
None of us came out of the womb knowing how to walk, talk, or do what we know how to do. Even innate gifts need to be shaped and encouraged. We were mentored. Trained. Educated. This “knowledge hoarding” exposes insecurities and punishes the wrong people.
Sharing what we’ve learned ignites the greatest ripple effect. And it could help close the gap on so many inequities we’re facing today.
When I think on all the things I’ve learned, the most heartwarming experiences happened when I learned from someone who was humble and remembered what it was like to be just starting out, whether it was writing, dancing, or fitness training. Most of us specialize in a field that someone else would love to just understand enough to better themselves. These trainers have helped me get better...and that makes me want to help others get better. It’s an excellent ethos for us all to strive towards. ♾
